koríko fònà hànmí

Koríko

I have been here all year long,
Affixed to this same spot.

Stagnant, like the waters of a dirt puddle
I have tried and failed, failed to move my feet;

The turf beneath me holds me back.

Koríko

I have been here for ages,
This same place,
Sitting here like a baobab tree;

I have tried and failed, failed to stand to my feet,
The turf I sit on holds me back.

Koríko

I have been here long enough,
I want to move on,
I want to swagger over the rough plains,

I want to soar like a bird without feet;
I want to trample, trample you Koríko

Koríko

Àsìkò tó, ìlo yá Oníbodè apòmù.

Koríko fònà hànmí, jé'kín rónà lo;

Àì fònà hànmì, ma sì fa koríko tu.

Koríko èyà
